Four years before he got his chance on The Ultimate Fighter, Ryan Hall looked like he already possessed the grappling skills that have made him one of the favourites for the competition.
Hall was the first fighter selected by Urijah Faber to represent Team U.S.A. and the choice proved an intelligent one as Hall submitted Frantz Slioa in the first round.
Hall medalled in the 2009 ADCC and has earned both bronze and gold in the Mundials so it’s safe to say that that he knows what he’s doing in grappling exchanges.
And one overly-aggressive bully became all too aware of Hall’s submission ability when he tried to start a fight with the black belt and his friends in a restaurant in 2011.
Apparently, the seemingly intoxicated patron approached Hall’s table requesting a lighter and when he was told that none of the party smoked, he flipped out.

A very calm Hall initially took the furious man to the ground, mounted him and warned him to calm down.
After being allowed back to his feet and requested to leave, he continued to be abusive before Hall walked to the door and flung him out of the establishment.
Some shaky camera work means we can’t actually see the exchange but judging by Hall’s position when the image becomes clear, he used a rear naked choke to eliminate the threat while the police arrived.
