The undisputed women’s bantamweight champion thinks she could earn as much as “Money” one day.
An interview with Ronda Rousey from earlier in the summer has been gaining real traction after being uploaded to YouTube recently.
When asked about the issue of the gender wage pay gap in sport, the UFC star hinted that it wasn’t a big issue in MMA.
Rousey earned a reported $230,000 for her last defence against Bethe Correia, which is just a fraction of the whopping $180 million Floyd Mayweather banked for his role in the “Fight of the Century” against Manny Pacquiao.
However, Rousey reckons that it is not unfair that she gets paid so much less than “Money”,
“I don’t like to talk about exactly how much money I make, but I’m very comfortable and happy.”
“If I got to a point where I had almost 50 fights, I would probably be making close to the same amount of money as Floyd does, but at this point, I have 11, so I can’t expect it to be exactly equal yet, I don’t think. I have to put more time in.”
