When the topless staredown between Conor McGregor and Cristiano Ronaldo reached internet-land on Sunday night, one would have expected it to become fodder for a Nate Diaz piss-take.
But Diaz actually remained tremendously level-headed and positive about the photograph as he explained how it was evidence that hard-working mixed martial artists were finally getting their due among the bigger superstars in the world.

Speaking to ESPN on a media tour, Diaz did take the chance to have a bit of a dig at the verrry bronzed midriff of the Real Madrid forward before praising the fact that people of the stature of Ronaldo and Jennifer Lopez were fans of the likes of ‘The Notorious’.
“That’s all good. That’s cool. He’s doing his thing,” Diaz said.
“They should be hanging out with him too. He’s fighting in a cage in front of the world, in front of a lot of people and it’s cool that people are recognising and representing for people that are actually putting a lot on the line.

“There’s a lot of good coming from fighting. If you fight and you win and do good, everybody loves you. If you get in there and fight and lose, and get your head kicked in, and besides the hurting is the fact that you’re getting laughed at and a lot of people are making fun of you. That’s a lot to put on the line.
“So it’s cool when big stars and big people come and appreciate that so he’s doing a good job with what he’s doing.”
