Nick Diaz has gotten support from an unlikely source after his five year ban from MMA for marijuana use.
Diaz’s career was essentially ended by the Nevada State Athletic commission after they slapped him with the suspension for testing positive for marijuana metabolites in a post-fight drug test after his superfight with Anderson Silva in January.
As a result of the ban, the former Strikeforce champion will be unable to compete until he’s 36, meaning that unless there’s a successful appeal, fight fans may never see him inside the Octagon ever again.
Diaz’s treatment by the NSAC sparked a huge campaign from fans and fighters to get the decision overturned and now he has the support of the richest fighter in the world.
In a video uploaded on his official YouTube channel, Mayweather Boxing Channel, Floyd Mayweather was quizzed about Diaz’s lengthy ban by his uncle, Jeff.
“Huh?” Mayweather Jr. repsonded in disbelief. “Man, let that man smoke weed and enjoy his life.”
