Jose Aldo doesn’t seem to be dwelling on his defeat to Conor McGregor.
The former UFC featherweight champion has been speaking to Brazilian television after losing his belt to the Dubliner.
Despite looks utterly devastated by the 13-second knockout delivered by McGregor in the immediate aftermath of the fight, less than 36 hours later Aldo sounds ready to put the end of his ten-year unbeaten run in the rear-view mirror.
The 29-year-old’s shows his true class by refusing to dwell on his stunning defeat and is already looking forward to getting back in the gym and working towards his next fight, whether that is a rematch with McGregor or another fight as he looks to bounce back into title contention.
The translation of the interview with reporter César Augusto is below (h/t Reddit user Furtado12):
“Of course, we are sad, for all that happened, but dude, it’s a matter of getting over it. It has passed. This is a sport, it’s part of it, winning and losing. We’ve been victorious many times, and now we lost. That’s ok. I already accepted it. Now I’ll go back to the gym, train harder and bounce back.”
“What do you want now?”
“Of course, if god wills it, now, firstly I want to get back to gym and come back stronger. And of course, a rematch. I think every champion, after losing, and especially the way I lost – no excuses, I lost, he connected a good strike and was successful – but, of course, I want a rematch. If god wills it, we will come back a lot stronger, and we will bounce back.”
