Joe Rogan’s wife may be getting suspicious her husband will leave her for Conor McGregor after watching this new promo.
Anyone who’s ever watched a UFC event knows that Joe Rogan is a fan of hyperbole. So it will come as no surprise that his latest promo about the “Conor McGregor era” is, for lack of a better word, hyperific.
Check out the promo followed by our dissection of Rogan’s spiel below where we try to see if he went “full Rogan”.
Let’s take a look at some of the more memorable lines from the video to see if we can pinpoint the exact moment Rogan jumped the hype shark.
“Conor McGregor is a combination of all the lessons everyone has ever learned through self-promotion and through positive thinking and belief in one’s self all combined in one insane Irish man with an entire country behind him.”
Right, that’s something people can get on board with. Regardless of your opinion of the Notorious, his self-belief and how he rose to the zenith of MMA is inspiring. What do we reckon, John?
John approves, let’s carry on.
“He is so confident. He has so much belief in himself. He’s so dynamic an individual…”
Getting a bit weird now.
“His aura, his energy that he brings into the Octagon is like some sort of Celtic warrior that’s just resurrected from the grave and given a pair of spandex shorts and thrown into the Octagon…”
Please… that’s enough.
“It’s a completely different type of human being. There has literally never been a guy like him before.”
Joe? You there Joe? Come back towards the light.
Right, let’s skip forward several hundred superlatives later to the end of the promo. This is the part where every point needs to be summed up and all that relentless praise has to be justified or else it will all come across as the ramblings of an insane person.
“Conor McGregor is a unique, special individual and when I get to call his fights I’m happy I get to be there when all this is going down because I really feel that he is a huge part of combat sports history.”
“I think that when all is said and done, we’ll look back on this 20 or 30 years from now, the Conor McGregor era will be something truly special, truly unique. He just makes things a lot of fun.”
Here, here, Joe. Nice save. Long may it last. It’s a great time to be an Irish MMA fan.
