You’ve heard of walk off knockouts before but we don’t think you’ve ever seen anything like this.
Joe Lauzon has long been one of the most popular fighters on the UFC roster and rightly leads the list of fighters to have received performance bonuses in the octagon.
He would have endeared himself to fight fans even more last night with his TKO finish of Japanese legend Takanori Gomi.
After pulling off the perfect entry into a takedown, J-Lau dragged Gomi to the ground before flattening him out and throw punches from back mount.
And rather than wait for referee Herb Dean to step in and wave the fight off, Lauzon landed just enough strikes to know that Gomi had had enough before deciding that the bout was over.
Unprompted, Lauzon got to his feet and walked away because he didn’t want to inflict any more punishment than was necessary.
What a guy!
