Usurping a king who had been undefeated for a decade in less time than it took Bruce Buffer to introduce him was all too much for some people who either fell silent in awe or jumped to their feet with a cathartic roar.
Graham Merrigan, an MMA fan from Dublin, was just as shocked as everyone else. He explained to Sports Illustrated that he was so caught up in the moment after UFC 194’s main event that he attempted to stand out of his wheelchair to celebrate, something he has never done before.
