UFC head honcho says he worried about Jon Jones 'the human being'

In a chat on Fox, White speaks about Jones’ failed test and what lies in the future for the pound-for-pound champ.

In his first TV interview since Jon Jones went into rehab after failing a cocaine test, UFC supremo Dana White has spoken about when he knew about the failed test, how it happened and how the UFC showdown with Daniel Cormier was never in danger of being called off.

White says that the UFC knew about the failed test shortly after the result on December 4th but UFC 182 was never in danger of being postponed as Jones was not found to have taken a PED, he was ‘healthy’ and as the contract between the UFC and Jones for the fight meant the fight still had to proceed. As White puts it: “Jon Jones was contracted to fight, and everyone thinks we can just say, ‘the fight’s off, the fight’s not happening.’ He had the right to fight.”

White repeatedly refers to his concerns about Jones as a person, not a fighter and gives plenty of ammo to those who feel Jones is being treated differently to other fighters who have failed tests for street drugs.
