The Notorious is rarely lost for words, which really shows how this news affected him.

Conor McGregor opened up about 14-year-old Brendan McGlone from Tyrone who lost his battle from stem cell leukaemia this week, in a recent interview. McGregor explained how he spoke to Brendan on the phone and how he vowed to visit him after his Las Vegas title fight.

“What happened was I got a phone call from a person in the UFC. Someone from the Make A Wish foundation reached out to them and said, ‘this kid from Ireland, he has cancer or he has leukemia and this is probably going to be his last wish and it’s to talk on the phone to you.”

“So I rang the kid and we talked for a long, long time. I talked with his friends in the hospital and his family and today or last night he passed away.”

McGregor admitted that hearing the terrible news of the young fan’s passing deeply affected him/

“So it fucked my head up because this little kid is in Ireland and I’m telling the kid I’m going to take this belt and I’m going to you,.. and I would have flew him out here to Vegas. They were thinking maybe if he got a little bit better they could fly him out here to Vegas.”

“It’s just a really sad situation and it’s heartbreaking. I’ve lost family members to cancer and it is a horrible, horrible thing.”
