It’s fair to say these two fighters aren’t fans of the Notorious
Chad Mendes is scheduled to slug it out with Ricardo Lamas in the main event at UFC Fight Night 63 in April. Despite the fact that they will soon been knocking seven shades of shite out of each other, they seem to bond over their contempt for a certain acerbic-tongued Irish fighter.
The pair did a joint interview for 107.6 Fan radio recently and, as often happens during interviews with UFC featherweights, Conor McGregor’s name cropped up. Number two-ranked contender Mendes admitted he has a great desire to fight the Dubliner and hand him his first loss in the promotion.
Ultimately, I would love to get back in there and get a W against Aldo and it would be that much better if it was for the title, but it’s going to feel so good to beat the crap out of Conor.
The guy’s just a big tool. I’m trying to be nice here. I could say a lot meaner things I think.
Mendes then broke down exactly McGregor does to incite such hatred. Money explained that he is not a fan of the methods the Irishman uses to hype his fights.
It’s just a guy that thinks he’s God’s gift to the Earth and he’s made a bunch of comments in the media. I understand it’s hyping stuff up but he’s talking about guys who aren’t even in the same weight class.
He’s bringing stuff up that shouldn’t even be brought up to sell a fight that isn’t even going to happen. It’s one thing when you’re trying to push a fight but he just likes talking crap.
Lamas then joined in on the fun, bringing up a quote McGregor had about Mendes in which he claimed he could “rest his balls on his forehead”.
There’s a difference between being an entertainer and walking around talking about how you want to put your genitals on other fighter’s heads. I’m not one to knock anybody’s fantasies.
We live in a world where there are a lot of freaks but what you do in the privacy of your own bedroom is your own business but you don’t have to go and blurt it out on an interview. Ain’t nobody got time for that.
Well, whether McGregor defeats Aldo or not, he won’t be short of opponents at 145 lbs anyway.
You can check out the interview in the video embedded below. If you wish to skip to the McGregor bashing, it begins at around the 5:45 mark.
