“Well, he’s f*****.”
That’s what one of the Albuquerque police officers proclaim after discovering that Jon Jones was behind the wheel of the car involved in the hit and run. A pregnant woman driving another vehicle broke her arm in the incident.
The extended on-scene footage from the cop’s lapel camera shows the the contents of the car which included MMA apparel, cash and identification.
This new footage also contains the recording of the original 911 call from the incident in which a witness describes how the perpetrator fled the scene on foot.
“The guy that’s getting out of the SUV, he took off running. He’s running over fences.”
Jones reportedly returned to the scene later to grab the cash, before leaving again. He turned himself in about 24 hours later and was stripped of his UFC belt, banned indefinitely from MMA and removed from the main event at UFC 187, where he was replaced by the successor to his light heavyweight throne Daniel Cormier.
He is awaiting a court date and it is not clear if he will return to the Octagon.
