His opponent had the temerity to underestimate the aged after beating him around the ring and out-grappling him. However, as GSP found out against Matt “I lost my battle with complex carbohydrates” Serra, all it takes is one punch to change the course of the fight.
In this case, that punch was a spinning-back fist and although the technique was suspect, you can’t argue with the outcome. The vicious haymaker dropped the cocky younger fighter and left him visibly dazed. The referee called the fight to a halt and awarded the 62-year-old debutante the KO victory.
