What? No five year ban?
UFC middleweight Caio Magalhaes will be counting his blessings after being slapped with a six-month suspension and 40 hours of community service for unsportsmanlike conduct by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
Magalhaes received the punishment for spiting blood on opponent Josh Samman and referee John McCarthy after a first-round submission loss at The Ultimate Fighter 21 Finale on July 12.
At his hearing on Thursday, he repeatedly apologised to McCarthy and the commission for his “absurd” actions, before claiming that he had “buried the hatchet” with Samman over dinner after the fight, which Samman felt was an exaggeration.
Absolutely I did not have dinner with someone that spit blood on me. https://t.co/YGGq8COyc9

The commission decided not to fine Magalhaes after the fighter pleaded for leniency, claiming he had spent $17,000 of his $20,000 on his training camp for the bout.
