Jon Jones won’t see the inside of a jail cell for his involvement in a hit-and-run in which a pregnant woman broke her arm.
Instead, the former UFC light-heavyweight and pound-for-pound king was given 18 months of supervised probation and will be required to make 72 youth outreach/charity appearances.
Many saw this as a lenient punishment considering the charges brought against the fighter and the reaction to his sentencing on social media has been somewhat mixed.
Some people are looking forward to seeing arguably the greatest fighter on planet Earth return to the Octagon while others claim the case highlights problems with the American judicial system.
Jon Jones' relatively lenient sentencing today is not a shocking revelation about the inequality of the American criminal justice system.

No jail time for Jon Jones. OK boom, need Cormier rematch, then Gusty, onto to heavyweight Velasquez, Werdum, then if he's ready Nik Lentz.

Jon Jones gets another slap on the wrist. Hopefully this will finally teach him a lesson. Can't wait to see him fight again. #UFC #MMA

The only color the court likes is green. It amazes me how the lower class continues to be victimized by the corruption. #jonjones

No jail time or felony conviction for Jon Jones after that hit-and-(literally)run. If you commit a crime in America, it helps to have money.

@marc_raimondi I'm a fan & former teammate of Jones. Although a different state, I'm baffled by the difference in sentence of him, Diaz & AS
