TWEETS: Nate Diaz is sticking to his story about being offered the Conor McGregor fight

This would have been interesting

When panic set in over the possibility of Jose Aldo dropping out of UFC 189, plenty of potential replacements popped into MMA fans’ heads.

Chad Mendes, Frankie Edgar and Max Holloway were the frontrunners to get the shout which is why it came as such a surprise when Nate Diaz tweeted this out on Tuesday.

The tweet was quickly deleted when the UFC presumably demanded that everyone on the roster keep quiet.

But, being a Diaz, Nate kept it real and revealed that the promotion did in fact call him for the McGregor fight.

The fact that Chad Mendes has been confirmed as the stand-in should Aldo fall out and with these fresh claims from Diaz, it’s pretty hard not to feel sorry for Frankie Edgar who was completely overlooked.
