Aww… hold on a sec.
Fighting in the UFC might not be the most well-paid job in professional sports, but making a living choking some cold-blooded killer unconscious in a cage surrounded by thousands of baying fans must be all worth it when you get sent fan mail such as the one Gunnar Nelson recently shared on Facebook.
Nelson thanked the young fan for his heartfelt message/match-up suggestion and promised that he would grant him what he asked for.
“Thank you Davis Scott 11 years old from Oneonta, AL, for your nice letter. Your signed card is on it’s way.”
It’s all terribly cute, isn’t it? However, if you think you’ve seen this letter before, you are correct.
Have a look at this letter UFC light-heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier recently received from one 11-year-old Davis Scott.
Aside from the suggested next opponent being Jon Jones instead of Matt Brown, it is word-for-word the same letters, which leaves us with a few possibilities.
Davis could have seen how successful his letter to DC was and decided to use the exact same tactic to get Gunni’s signature. If this is the case, kudos, that’s a smart move.
There is also the possibility that he could be taking advantage of the cute-factor and playing both fighters by re-using his go-to line.
“You are a great fighter.”
We’re onto you, Davis.
