This casting process didn’t take long
The list of actresses with the mixed martial arts ability and striking good looks required to portray Ronda Rousey on the big screen is a short one.
In fact, there is really only one person capable of bringing the UFC women’s champion to life, so it’s probably no surprise to learn that Ronda Rousey will be playing the lead role in the upcoming biopic about her life.
Based on her autobiography, My Fight/Your Fight, the film will cover her early life and MMA career, which has seen her become the most dominant champion in UFC history, winning her last three title defences in a combined 64 seconds.
With so much spare time, Rousey has been building herself into a mainstream entertainment brand, appearing at last year’s Wrestlemania alongside the Rock and co-starring with the WWE legend in the most recent entry in the Fast and Furious series. She has also appeared in Expendables 3 and the Entourage movie.
Rousey told the Hollywood Reporter: “I never thought that being an action movie star was in the cards for me. My agent kept telling me, ‘You’re going to be the female Rock.’ Then I started to believe it could be a reality.”
Now producers just have to find actresses willing to risk starring as Rousey’s many victims in the octagon.
