Jose Aldo is no longer hiding the fact that he is upset with the UFC.

The cracks in Aldo’s relationship with the UFC have been appearing for some time now.

The undisputed featherweight champion was one of the first fighters to speak out against the controversial Reebok sponsorship deal. Aldo admitted that it wouldn’t really affect his income, but admitted that it would hurt the pockets of young fighters trying t break into the sport.

“If I say this might be good for Aldo, yeah, sure it can, I would make good money, I could say that.”

“It gets really bad for up and comers or guys who are trying to reach the top.  I’m not talking about me, I’m all right, I’m the champion and I have a high price. Aldo hasn’t become the champion now, he has been the champion for years. But for the beginners, it’s really bad.”

More recently, Aldo spoke out against Reebok yet again in a rather spectacular press conference. This time he took aim at the uniforms themselves.

“It sucks, but what can we do? We know it’s a private company, everybody has their contracts. I don’t think it looks good, everyone has their own style. I can’t do anything about it, just talk. We have to accept. We are the Power Rangers.”

On Wednesday, Chael Sonnen revealed on his podcast that Aldo’s attorney informed him that the fighter threatened to sue the promotion for defamation over comments Dana White made about his rib injury.

Aldo’s team had published an x-ray which appeared to show the fractured rib that he cited as his reason for withdrawing from UFC 189. White claimed that Aldo’s broken rib MRI showed an old injury, that the champion had actually suffered a bruised rib and damaged cartilage and that it wasn’t just UFC doctors that diagnosed the Aldo bruised rib, “it was three different doctors.”

Now, Aldo has broken his silence on the controversial firing of iconic cutman Jacob “Stitch” Duran over anti-Reebok comments.

The Brazilian uploaded a photo of Stitch to Instagram with a caption that only contained hand-clapping emojis. Somehow we doubt this signifies Aldo’s approval of how the promotion handled the Stitch situation.
