The sporting world reacts to Conor McGregor making history at UFC 205

He got a lot of people talking...

Conor McGregor made history at UFC 205 in New York City.

The fighter from Crumlin is the first in the 23-year history of the UFC to hold titles in two different weight classes at the same time, following his sound round KO of Eddie Alvarez at Madison Square Garden.

The UFC featherweight, and now lightweight champion made it look easy, stunning his opponent from Philadelphia with a trademark left hand, after some brilliant head movement to avoid a flurry from Alvarez.

McGregor followed that up with a strong right, another left and a right as Alvarez fell to the floor, before the referee stepped-in and ended the bout.

The 28-year-old has made history and got a lot of people talking.

The sporting world, as well as Dwayne Johnson, Piers Morgan and Niall Horan, were blown away by McGregor’s latest victory, which also sent the world’s media into a spin.
