The true proving ground for success – Google.
One’s place in the public consciousness can best be summed up by how often you are being searched for on Google and Saturday’s figures prove that there are a lot of people thinking about Conor McGregor.
On the day that the Dubliner captured the UFC interim featherweight championship, “Conor McGregor” was searched for more than a million times which made him the top topic of the day, ahead of “Roger Federer,” “Serena Williams,” and “Deadpool trailer.”
That’s not too dissimilar to the searches for Ronda Rousey, herself one of the biggest draws in the UFC, the day before she fought Cat Zingano back in February.
There’s certainly no doubt who the two biggest names in mixed martial arts are and the sport itself is also gathering even more momentum with the Nielsen social TV rankings showing that UFC 189 was just behind Wimbledon in terms of sporting events being discussed that day.
Boom. How about those @Nielsen social TV rankings. #UFC189 #UFCSocial. pic.twitter.com/Z2rXZuwo88
