When you threaten people with a gun outside a strip club, you really leave your employer’s hands tied.
Last week it emerged that The Ultimate Fighter 14 winner Diego Brandao had been arrested in Albuquerque, following an incident at a local strip club during which he reportedly pulled a gun on an employee.
Reports coming out on Thursday evening suggest that the Brazilian has been released by the UFC for his behaviour and while the promotion has yet to confirm that news, it would make sense for the UFC to want to distance themselves from such activity.
It is the latest incident in a thoroughly shocking start to the year for the featherweight who, following a submission defeat to Brian Ortega in January, tested positive for marijuana metabolites in his in-competition drug test.
Irish fans will remember Brandao from his fight in July, 2014, when he played the foil to Conor McGregor on the Dubliner’s return to home soil.
