Irish fans who traveled to Vegas for McGregor v Mendes may want to start looking into acquiring some green, white and gold cowboy hats.
Legendary MMA and boxing reporter Kevin Iole has revealed that the UFC are looking at the Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium in Texas for the featherweight title unification bout between Conor McGregor and Jose Aldo.
No fights or venue has yet been announced for UFC 194 which is scheduled for December 5th and Iole claims that that card could be headlined by the long-awaited meeting of McGregor and Aldo which was supposed to feature as the main event at last weekend’s UFC 189 before Aldo fell out with a rib injury.
“An Andrea Bocelli concert at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas on Dec. 5 has led to the UFC’s decision to look at the Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, as the venue for the featherweight title fight between champion Jose Aldo and interim champion Conor McGregor, sources have told Yahoo Sports.
“MGM Resorts officials booked the Bocelli concert for Dec. 5 in its Grand Garden, the same night that UFC 194 will be held. Assuming his rib injury is sufficiently healed, the UFC plans to have the hotly anticipated Aldo-McGregor match headline that card.”
Initial suggestions led fight fans to believe that we wouldn’t see the Irishman and Brazilian clash until early 2016 but thanks to the glorious Andrea Bocelli and the UFC’s haste to get their 145lb title sorted, we could see the realisation of the grudge match even earlier in a stadium that has a capacity of over 80,000.
