PICS: We’ve turned some Irish politicians into UFC fighters for the day that’s in it

We quite like the idea of Bruce Buffer becoming the next Ceann Comhairle

IT’S TIME!!!

Earlier today, Senator Catherine Noone caused uproar among the Irish MMA community with her call for a state-wide ban on what she described as a “vile, so-called sport”.

Her comments received heavy backlash on the Twittosphere and she has since admitted that she was wrong to judge the sport so harshly.

People also flooded Noone’s Twitter with tweets offering to educate her on MMA to show her that it isn’t as barbaric as some make it out to be.

One tweeter had the temerity to ask what gym Noone would be joining in order to get to grips with the complexities of the sport. Her response was interesting, to say the least.

While this tweet was obviously meant in jest, it really got us thinking. Instead of shouting over each other in the Dáil chambers, perhaps the best way for politicians to settle arguments would be to slug it out inside the people’s forum… the Octagon.

If the UFC thinks Conor McGregor is a needle-mover, imagine how blown away they’ll be with the PPV numbers these events pull in.
