This guy’s either a genius, or the luckiest man alive

One MMA enthusiast made an absolute killing from the insane UFC card in Porte Alegre at the weekend.

An American fight fan turned a $5 into a cool $36,000 (€31,834) with an incredibly fortunate nine-team parlay in which he backed a plethora of underdogs to upset the odds. In total, there were 10 upsets on the Fight Night 61 event, which meant that a lot of chancers made a serious chunk of change off long shot bets.

Despite being undoubtedly overjoyed by his big payday, perhaps the gambler will be somewhat disappointed at missing out on a potential $62,000 return from his five bucks. The man was let down by TJ Waldburger, who pulled out of his fight against Wendell Oliveira after he passed out while cutting weight.

The man had picked the Brazilian fighter to defeat Waldburger and, judging by how tough he found the weight cut, it looked likely to come off.

Unfortunately, he’ll have to make do with meagre $36,000 because of the cancelled fight. The poor guy.
