Common sense has prevailed and UFC flyweight Neil Seery has received his Reebok money for Saturday night.
It was initially believed that ‘2 Tap’ would not be paid his sponsorship money as he did not take to the Octagon due to the fact that his opponent, Ian McCall, fell ill and was unable to compete.
Seery was paid his show money after making weight last Friday but he was horrified to hear that he would be missing out on his payment from Reebok, the exclusive sports apparel partner of the UFC.
@Reebok I made weight you can not pay me not my fault fight didn't happen 😡

But it turns out that it was no more than a misunderstanding and the former Cage Warriors flyweight champion was compensated as, to be fair, he sported Reebok throughout fight week and the scrapping of the bout was not Seery’s fault whatsoever.
The 37-year-old revealed on Wednesday that he had indeed been paid and, unsurprisingly, went on to announce that he intended to donate a percentage of his payment to Rory Gallagher, a young Sligo boy who suffers from Cerebral Palsy.
Thanks to @Reebok and @ufc for my payment just a miss understanding I'm going to donate €1000 euros of the money @roryswishtowalk pic.twitter.com/zQRHetzP0G

Young Rory will require expensive surgeries in the USA if he is to realise his dream of walking and Seery has offered to donate €1000 to help out.
And it’s safe to say that it was greatly appreciated by Rory’s mother, Shauna.
Seery was initially planning to retire after his bout at UFC Belfast but the fact that it never took place means that he will be pursuing another fight in which he can showcase his skills one last time.
And he’ll have plenty of new fans cheering him on when he does it.
