Former UFC star Wanderlei Silva was hit by a car while riding his bike home from a training session, a statement on the Brazilian’s social media platform confirms.
Although the extent of his injuries are unclear, the post adds that he now requires surgery on his shoulder as a result of the incident.

There’s no mention of where Silva was at the time of the incident or if any arrests have been made in connection with it.
Having been released from his UFC contract, the 39-year-old signed with Japanese MMA organisation, Rizin Fighting Federation.
He is currently suspended by the Nevada Athletic Commission for three years having refused to take a drug test. Having initially been given a lifetime ban, the former PRIDE middleweight champion is poised to return to competitive action in the spring of 2017.
