Conor McGregor goes full Conor McGregor at UFC open workouts

Michael Corry

Only two days go..

Conor McGregor is two days away from the biggest fight of his career when he takes on dominant Russian fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov.

This weekend will mark almost two years to the day that McGregor last fought inside the UFC octagon. That fight was a lop-sided victory over Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 when he captured the lightweight belt and in the process became the organisations first ever simultaneous two-weight world champion.

The animosity between the two intensified when Khabib and his team cornered Artem Lobov in the week leading up to the Russian’s win over Al Iaquinta at UFC 223.

What followed was the now infamous bus attack when McGregor threw a dolly, smashing the window of a bus carrying Khabib as well as a host of other fighters.

The stars began to align, and now we are only two days away from witnessing what many believe to be the biggest fight in UFC history.

The Dubliner was present at yesterday’s open workouts, and when approached by Megan Olivi for an interview afterwards it became clear that the Irish man is PUMPED.

McGregor clearly never misses a trick, taking the opportunity to promote his new whiskey ‘Proper No.12’ by telling the crowd to shout “Fuck the Jameson brothers.”

A clear throwback to the now famous slogan, “Fuck the Mayweathers.”

What started as jovial soon turned dark as McGregor became very intense towards the end of the interview. Once again taking the microphone and telling the crowd how the fight will go down.

“Let’s go do it, a proper fight, a proper proper fight. I am gonna come out the gate fast. I don’t give a fuck about anything, about any wrestling, any technique.

“I’m coming for that man’s head, from the fucking bell, trust me on that.

“Lets take this smelly Dagenstani rat and send him back home to their mums.”

It was intense, it was passionate, it was vintage McGregor to be honest.

Conor McGregor is primed and ready for action at UFC 229.
