Khabib makes chilling statement about what he will do to Conor McGregor

Michael Corry

Now that Conor McGregor’s legal woes in New York have been put to bed, all eyes turn to a potential fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov.

The undefeated fighter finally won the belt at UFC 223 after a bout against Al Iaquinta, but not before multiple opponents pulled out the week of the fight.

Nurmagomedov has been calling for a fight with McGregor since claiming the strap, and it would seem the Dubliner is up for the fight too, if his antics in Brooklyn is anything to go by.

Many would view the Dagestan native as the overwhelming favourite going into the fight considering his perfect record and McGregor’s inactivity over the past year and a half.

Now that legal issues have been set aside, McGregor is in talks with the UFC about a return. So, it looks like finally the two men will fight it out to become undisputed King of the lightweight division.

Khabib was in attendance at UFC on Fox 30 in Calgary at the weekend, where he spoke to reporters about the potential fight against the SBG man.

“I can’t believe we’re going to fight, because I really want this guy,”

He went on to make a chilling claim about what he wants to do to Conor if the two eventually square up inside the Octagon.

“(I want to) Make him humble, a little bit teach him, and not only smash but change his face. I want to change his face. Of course, with face I can change his mind, too.”

The AKA trained wrestler admitted to being happy that McGregor escaped without jail time, following his attack on a bus that contained Khabib, as well as several other UFC fighters back in April.

“To be honest, inside my heart I am a little bit happy about this,” Nurmagomedov said. “Because if he goes to jail, what happens? How I can catch him? How? Only inside the cage.”

Reporters pressed Nurmagomedov for his thoughts on how a fight between the two would go. Khabib claims he isn’t planning on ending the fight quickly as he wants to punish the Crumlin man for all that has gone on before. He believes the fight will be so one-sided that a rematch will be out of the question.

“How can we fight after this fight when I change his face?” Nurmagomedov said. “Even if I have a chance for a submission or choke, I’m going to keep punishing, talk with him, enjoy inside the cage. I can’t wait.”

The trash talk has already began in what many believe is going to be the biggest fight in UFC history.
