War after war after war.
UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler’s chin is bigger than Jay Leno’s.
Ruthless defied the odds again at UFC 195 by taking everything Carlos Condit threw at him for 25 minutes and somehow remaining conscious by the final bell. The judges eventually awarded the champion a somewhat contentious split decision victory.
One of the biggest takeaways from the fight, as is the case for pretty much every fight involving Lawler, was his incredible ability to take damage. The good folk over at MMA Junkie have crunched all the numbers which has produced some stats which are in equal parts impressive and worrying.
For example, the 531 significant strikes Lawler has eaten in UFC title fights are the most history and the 5.5 significant strikes per minute he absorbs in UFC title fights is the second most in history behind Frank Mir (6.3).
However, perhaps the most startling statistic is that Lawler has absorbed 691 significant strikes in UFC competition since January 1 2013, the most of any fighter in the company since that date.
The man’s a machine.
