Kelvin Gastelum won’t even be given the chance to redeem himself at welterweight.
Gastelum oddly didn’t make it to the official scales at the early UFC 205 weigh-ins but the man he was scheduled to face, Donald Cerrone, revealed that he’d heard Gastelum was not going to make weight.
A visibly upset ‘Cowboy’ left the stage before, lo and behold, confirmation came via Gastelum’s Twitter account that the fight was off.
I will not be fighting @Cowboycerrone 2morrow on account that I couldn't make the wght limit. I apologize 2 cowboy ure a legend. God bless.

The TUF 17 middleweight winner had missed weight… Again.
Two years ago, Gastelum was ordered to move up to 185lbs after missing the welterweight limit twice in the span of three bouts.
After a victorious return to middleweight, Gastelum was allowed to come back to 170lbs, presumably on a last warning, where he successfully reached the required limit but that was short-lived.
Reportedly over by a whopping 10lbs on Friday morning, Gastelum will never be allowed to fight at welterweight again.
UFC president Dana White told Fox that he will put a stop to any attempt from Gastelum to drop back down to 170lbs, meaning that he will be forced to make middleweight his permanent home.
.@UFC Prez @DanaWhite is NOT happy with @KelvinGastelum for missing weight. Hear from the boss himself what he plans to do about it. #UFC205 pic.twitter.com/luVhm8sXyt

“I’ll never let him fight at 170lbs again,” he said.
And considering the fact that Gastelum’s seemingly incapable of reliably cutting to welterweight, it’s probably a wise call.
