Savour this, because it could well be the last time these two agree on anything before they throw down at UFC 189.
As we’ve seen from the UFC 189 Embedded series, Conor MCGregor and Chad Mendes don’t really get along with each other.
The pair are due to slug it out for the interim featherweight belt on July 11th, so it is unlikely that they will be in full agreement with each other on any topics, until after the fight at least.
However, during the UFC 189 conference call, it became apparent that the duo do share the same opinion when it comes to where Jose Aldo’s next fight should be, or rather, where it should definitely not be.
The undisputed featherweight champion was forced out of his title fight with Conor McGregor at UFC 189 due to a rib injury, which means that whoever wins the headline bout on July 11th is likely to face Aldo next to unify the belts.
However, if Mendes and McGregor have their way, Aldo will not be allowed to defend his belt on home soil in his next bout.
“It’s the McGregor division now. He went running, it’s my call now. So if he wants to come back with his tail between his legs, that’s no problem. He can come back and we can do the stadium in Dublin. But it’s my call now.”
As for “Money,” he has absolutely no intention of competing in another title fight in Brazil.
“I agree, I fought the guy twice in Brazil now. If I get that belt, I am fighting that dude in the states this time.”
