Another big-name fighter has called out McGregor.

Former super-middleweight world champion boxer Carl Froch has become the latest prominent fighting figure to call out MMA star Conor McGregor. A fight against the Irish mixed martial artist is seen as one of the most lucrative bouts in all of combat sports. So, the list of those hoping for pay-day against the Dubliner is constantly growing. Now, it appears that the former British boxing champion is the latest to take aim at the former two-division UFC champion. Froch has said that he would ditch the ring for the cage to secure the fight. Despite acknowledging that his view would be a controversial one, the 45-year-old went on to say that his size would be the decisive factor in a potential bout. Although, the vast majority of Froch's career was fought between 160 and 168 pounds. McGregor fought most recently at 155lbs and is now angling to enter the 170lbs division. "I'd fight Conor McGregor in the cage. I could be getting myself in trouble here or into a position I can't wiggle out of, but I think I'd take him on in the cage", said Froch. https://twitter.com/TheNotoriousMMA/status/1641167508508930051 The former two-weight UFC champion took to Twitter to respond to Froch's claims. The 34-year-old responded by tagging the boxer's former promoter, Eddie Hearn, with the caption: "Get this signed up lad". Nottingham-native Froch last fought all the way back in 2014 against George Groves at Wembley Stadium, finishing off his illustrious career with a knock-out victory which moved his professional record to 33 wins and 2 losses. McGregor has undergone a sabbatical of sorts himself, following his horrific leg break in his defeat to Dustin Poirier in the summer of 2021. The Dublin-born MMA fighter, however, recently stated his desire to increase the frequency of his bouts and make a final run at claiming yet another world title. In a recent interview with Ariel Helwani, McGregor said that "I'm excited and confident to not necessarily prove those people (doubters) wrong, but to prove my supporters correct. That's always my goal". McGregor will now set his sights on turning those words into reality, as he gears up for his return to the UFC this autumn when he will face Michael Chandler in a 155-pound title-shot eliminator.
