As Conor McGregor continues to bang the drum for the UFC to reinstate his rematch with Nate Diaz, Andre Berto avenged a defeat of his own.
Berto got revenge on Victor Ortiz on Saturday night with a fourth round TKO over the man who took a unanimous decision against him in 2011.
And Berto, who may be better remembered as the final opponent of Floyd Mayweather, has revealed that he received a phonecall from ‘The Notorious’ in the wake of his stunning win at the weekend.
“I did talk to him, he congratulated me on my fight last night,” Berto told TMZ Sports.
“I did my thing but Conor, he’s going to be back and he’s going to be back in a big way.
“Conor does whatever he wants to do. He’s the man of the UFC. He brings the numbers in and he brings the money in.”
Berto and McGregor have been friendly with one another for some time and ‘The Beast’ actually advised the Irishman to take a fight or two prior to accepting the eventual rematch with Nate Diaz, which has recently be scrapped from the line-up of UFC 200.
Can we expect a trip from Berto over to SBG to impart some of his striking wisdom on ‘The Notorious’? Only time will tell.
