A Warrior’s Path (Episode 2) – Ireland’s oldest fighter Liam Dale prepares for the Worlds

"I'm tired, I'm sore but that's the game"

Darragh Murphy

He’s approaching his 50th birthday but Liam Dale is showing no signs of slowing down.

The veteran kickboxer is looking to build on his comeback to the sport which saw him triumph in the WAKO European Championships last year.

His 18 year hiatus from competition has done nothing to halt the Dubliner’s ascent to the pinnacle of the sport that he fell in love with as a youngster.

While the muscles may take a little longer to recover nowadays and there may not be as much puff left in his lungs as when he was a spry 25-year-old, Dale has learned to embrace the innovations in sports science to ensure that he’s getting the best out of his body as he ups his preparation for November’s World Championships.

He’s “mellowed” with age, according to the president of Kickboxing Ireland Roy Baker and Dale’s family has now taken centre-stage in his life but that doesn’t mean he’s going to give anything other than 100% come November.
