Olympic gold medallist Victoria Pendleton’s Cheltenham preparations took a tumble Friday when she fell on her racecourse jumps debut at Fakenham.
The retired track cyclist fell off her festival mount, Pacha Du Polder, at the seventh fence of the 4.10 three-miler as Baltic Blue came down in front of her mount.
Pendleton was unharmed after the fall, saying she was “just annoyed” the two-time Olympic champion still intends to ride the Aintree Fox Hunters’ Chase runner-up at Cheltenham next month.
“I’m okay, just annoyed. I didn’t have a chance to stay on. The horse in front jumped a bit squiffy and I went out the side door.”
