It’s a bit small for our tastes.
The Queen of England looks like she has more energy than the supposed vitality captured in the massive bronze tribute to one of the greatest horses of all time.
A statue to the unbeaten stallion Frankel was unveiled today at the the first day of the Ascot festival, but it left us feeling a little bit underwhelmed.
It’s one of four planned as statues that are also set to be placed at the National Museum of Horse Racing, Newmarket, York Racecourse and Banstead Manor Stud, where Frankel currently has his hooves up as the head stallion.
Owner Khalid Abdullah’s racing manager Teddy Grimthorpe was there along with the wife of late trainer Sir Henry Cecil, and he described the statue as “a wonderful likeness which has captured both his looks and his energy.”
We’re not so sure.
The day begin full of mystery as the crafty Ascot officials teased the crowds,
Some people were so excited they even dressed up for the occasion
Right lets do it…@Ascot and they're off! Wearing the great Frankel colours today! pic.twitter.com/NU4CJ5FHO7

The sculptor Mark Coreth also got it in the neck. And not just for his metalwork skills

Love the Frankel sculptor. Have not heard an accent that refined since the old Queen died. Very charming gentleman.
