A sad day for the equestrian world and for the many punters that gloried in his victories.
The Racing Post has broken the news of Kauto Star’s passing.
They report that Star died after ‘sustaining a complex fracture to the left side of his pelvis as the result of a fall’.
The renowned chaser was assessed at Valley Equine Hospital in Upper Lambourn but was put down at 3pm on Monday. It is said that he ‘did not suffer’.

He won 23 of his 41 races, including the Cheltenham Gold Cup twice and five King George triumphs.
