Kaymer added: “My wish would be, stop being so nasty. Try to help. We all want to see him happier and hopefully one day see him play golf again. That’s my only wish.”
Two-time major champion Martin Kaymer launched a staunch defence of Tiger Woods on the back of his arrest, calling on Woods’ critics to “stop being so nasty”
The 32-year-old German took to Twitter to proclaim his support for the troubled American golfer.
“Obviously a lot of people know what happened to Tiger Woods the last few days,” said Kaymer. “There’s so many comments, so many opinions. They are so unfair and so disrespectful, in my opinion.”

Kaymer has played alongside Woods on numerous occasions in the past. He has two majors to his name in the 2010 PGA Championship and the 2014 U.S. Open. Kaymer is a highly distinguished golfer who was the World number one for two months in 2011.
Woods was arrested on 29 May after being found asleep at the wheel of his car, before failing a sobriety test. The American released a statement the following day in which he claimed “full responsibility” for the incident.
The 14-time major winner has not played since February and recently released an injury update on his website revealing that he underwent fusion surgery and that he hasn’t “felt this good in years.”
Inevitably, there was a good deal of surmise in the aftermath of the incident, because of the particular grimness of Woods’ mugshot, and the fact that he has not won a Golf competition since 2013.
His troubled personal life has been under the spotlight in the last few years and this is just another of those events which lead many to believe that Woods golf career has reached a point of no return.

Kaymer feels that Woods deserves more from the golfing public, that people shouldn’t be so quick to jump on his back.
“He inspired kids, teenagers; he inspired all of us,” Kaymer said.
Former golfing legends Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player also referenced Tiger’s need for support during his current struggles.
Now more than ever @TigerWoods needs our love, support & understanding. This is how I wish to see him. GP pic.twitter.com/bnRwutT9SY
