For a variety of reasons there’s probably not a huge amount of sympathy out there among the public for the problems Tiger Woods may have in his personal life.
That’s more of a hunch than a piece of scientific research but it’s more than likely pretty accurate.
The former world No1 announced he had split from Olympic skier Lindsay Vonn on Sunday, a date which coincided with their third anniversary of his father’s death.
Now Woods has been telling exactly how hard the past few days have been for him
‘These three days have been brutal on me,” he Woods.
‘It’s tough. Obviously it does affect me. On top of that, this three-day window from 3-5 May is always really hard. I haven’t slept.”
Woods and Vonn were an item since 2013 and she accompanied him and his children at the par 3 tournament prior to the Masters at Augusta last month.
It was the first public relationship Woods embarked on following his split from wife Elin Nordegren in 2009 following a string of lurid allegations.
That led to a five-month break from the game and he has yet to win another major.
Woods says he is well used to dealing with mass attention on aspects of his life away from the golf course.
‘I’ve always had to deal with circumstances outside the ropes,’ he said.
‘Once you’re inside them, it’s time to tee it up and time to play. You go into your own little zone and focus, and grind out and win golf tournaments.’
