After being talked up as a six-to-eight week case yesterday, it all ended this morning
It was all set to be a long, and probably quite unpleasant, battle in the High Court between Rory McIlroy and his former management team Horizon (CEO Conor Ridge pictured above), but after some talks yesterday the two sides have settled this morning, with an incredible amount of money set to switch hands.
After a very brief opening yesterday counsel for McIlroy, Paul Gallagher SC, said that the two sides were ‘making progress’. Judge Brian Cregan then delayed proceedings yesterday afternoon, scheduling the parties to return to court this morning at 11am.
When they did, it was announced that the case had been ‘entirely resolved’ ‘to the satisfaction of both parties.’ McIlroy was not in court today.
And the BBC have reported that the settlement will cost McIlroy as much as a whopping €17.5m, plus legal costs.
McIlroy was suing his former management team over the fees charged while he was a client while they were counter suing him for breaking his contract with them in 2013.
