The full reasons for Willard Hurley II’s disappearance have not yet been uncovered.

Billy Hurley is proud to have the ‘III’ moniker of his name adorn scoreboards on the PGA Tour.

Son of a proud, golf-loving father, Hurley was distraught, on Tuesday, when he faced the media to request help in locating him.

His father had thrown some clothes into a bag, on July 18, hopped in a jeep and took off from the family home in Leesburg, Virginia. Hurley’s mother was concerned at the disappearance but waited until July 27 before declaring him missing.

The following day, with his participation in the Quickens Loans National fast approaching, Hurley addressed the media and put out an appeal to find his father.

Various news outlets ran the appeal and a nationwide campaign began to find Willard Hurley.

On Friday, Billy Hurley recorded a round of 70 to make the weekend cut. He then discovered that his father had been located, in Texas.

‘Thank you so much for helping us find my father,’ Hurley commented. ‘We don’t know what comes next but I wanted to say “Thank you”.’ Hurley added:

‘Ironically, he was found in a public library watching me play golf on a computer.’

The Virginian said he would see out the rest of the tournament, on Saturday and Sunday, but says he will consider dropping out of his next event to spend time with his family.

Hurley adds that he does not ‘have the luxury’ to drop out this weekend as he is trying to retain his tour card.

‘Dad, I love you and we want you to come home,’ he declared.
