The Westmeath county board isn’t happy with its senior players for allegedly dodging paying into club games in Mullingar.
The club season is drawing to a close, but earlier this week the county board meeting heard of a bizarre accusation aimed at some members of a county senior panel.
According to the Westmeath Topic, county secretary James Savage told the meeting that he was embarrassed on behalf of the players that they would avoid paying at the get in order to get into a game for free
It’s an absolute disgrace that members of our county panel would belittle themselves to climb across the wall into Cusack Park.”
“Where are we going? Unfortunately, I can’t be every side of the ground, so it’s impossible to watch and we will need to get stewards at these areas.”
It seems a pretty bizarre situation while the angry statement also conjures up images of Westmeath GAA stewards patrolling walls in Cusack Park to try and stop it happening again.
