The problem now is that there were due to be a full round of hurling fixtures this weekend before the quarter-finals next weekend, followed by the semis and then the final. But now the hurling final will be on the same weekend as the football final - if that's still able to go ahead on April 1. The problem with moving football league fixtures to the weekend of March 10 and 11 is that there are already knock on effects from the bad January weather which has seen games moved to those dates as they are - with the O'Byrne Cup still not taking place."The GAA has confirmed that all Allianz Football and Hurling League fixtures scheduled for this weekend have been postponed," the statement read. "A full revised fixtures programme to cover the remaining rounds of the Allianz Leagues will be issued on Monday, March 5th."
It will be interesting to see what can be done now given that April is supposed to be free for clubs.
