WATCH: Westmeath club pull out all the stops with amazing homecoming

Conan Doherty

They do it right in Westmeath.

From 42-point drubbings to the club’s first county title in 61 years. From that to provincial glory.

2017 will never be forgotten in Multyfarnham. The junior football champions of Westmeath are 60 minutes from Croke Park but, whatever will be, they’ll look back on this year and this special campaign with fond memories forever.

From the same side that took those beatings, to the one that grew and lost too many finals, now what’s sprung from there is Leinster kingpins.

They’ve taken the blows together and now they’re winning together.

But a GAA club is so much more than just the senior team lucky enough to represent them. Killeavy in Armagh get that with their touching tribute to all of their members.

And Multyfarmham get that too.

Their homecoming looked like amazing craic and the scenes are pure and perfect. But on the back of that truck lugging the victorious team back into the village was the young players of Multyfarnham who, just like the tea makers and the fundraisers and the committee members, they’re just as big a part of this win as the players.

They’re all in it together.
