WATCH: Southern California GAA club make the greatest pitch of all time for new members

How could you say no?

Conan Doherty

Home is where the heart is.

“No matter where you go, the length and breadth of Ireland or right across the world, everyone has massive, massive pride in their club.”

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Orange County.

For many Irish people, living back on the mother island is no longer a possibility so they’ve made new homes for themselves all around the planet. It’s never easy to let go of your roots but, even on the Pacific coast, new roots have been planted. New homes have been built.

Orange County Wild Geese is a haven for Irish people right in the heart of southern California.

Clare men, Galway natives, Cork and Tyrone have come together to form this sanctuary over 8,000 km from Irish soil.

Ridiculous views.

Serious training.

Comradeship.

And a bit of success. And views.

The club have sold their identity, their culture and tradition and, by God, they’ve sold it well.

Take a look at this cracking video. It’s hard not to think about uprooting and starting a new life for yourself.

(Just don’t tell your senior manager that you’re going away for the summer…)
