WATCH: League decider in Mayo takes just 13 seconds

Conan Doherty

An anticlimax to a brilliant campaign.

Shrule/Glencorrib didn’t exactly have to dig it out in the end to clinch the league title.

The south Mayo club won Division 1C easier than they would’ve imagined. The throw-in was uncontested. There were gaping holes through the middle of the opposition defence. They strolled right through unchallenged and popped over the bar without so much as a finger laid on them.

In fairness, there wasn’t another team there to do anything about it.

Shrule/Glencorrib are the 1C champions of Mayo. They had to win on Sunday to make sure of it but Castlebar B’s no-show made the task a little easier.

So what unfolded was the lowest scoring win of all time.

Lower than the 13-second game in Derry. Lower than the Donegal final even.

Final scores
Shrule/Glencorrib 0-1 Castlebar B 0-0

And that was it.

Take your points, your goals will come.

No need for risk-taking or faffing around. Job done. League champions.

And the crowd loved it in fairness to them.
