This ain't no holiday

How far to Johannesburg

The South Africa Gaels are in the midst of their mini Irish tour at the moment and have been creating quite a stir so far on their adventures.

They’ve already had a kicking contest with Dublin midfielder Michael Darragh McAuley and now they’ve taken a trip to play Clare Island in an island GAA tournament.

They may be more used to long trips by plane or car to get games in Africa but in Ireland there’s was only one way they were getting to the island off the west coast and that was by ferry.

The sea looks very, very choppy but, to be fair, the spirits never dimmed despite the rough seas with a rendition of pub and wedding classic ‘The Rattling Bog’ given a good airing – even if someone forgot the words midway through the 38million verses.

They also had to contend with some shocking weather conditions but it looks like from the short video of the game that they put up a very decent showing for their efforts.
