It’s not as easy as it looks.
Cricket may once have been the most popular field sport in Tipperary and Kilkenny, but hurling rules now.
And the stark difference between the sports has been highlighted by one of the best hurlers of the modern age in a TV show to be broadcast next month on RTE.
Brendan Maher got a chance to see how easy or hard it would be to transfer his hand-eye co-ordination from one sport to another as part of this year’s AIB Toughest Trade
The Tipperary captain tried out life with the Strikers, one of the most well supported teams in cricket’s Big Bash League in Australia.
And judging by the new trailer for the documentary released this afternoon, it looks like the half-back struggled with the speed of bowlers firing a cricket ball towards him.
The Borris-Ileigh man swappd sports over a month ago, and we’ll find out exactly how he got on Down Under at the beginning of next month,  and how English cricketer Stephen Harmison got on while he was training with Maher’s local GAA club on RTE2 on Tuesday March 8 at 9.55pm.
Hurlers should have the skill set to excel at Cricket, @BennyMaher put that theory to the test in #TheToughest Tradehttps://t.co/OpJIYt6NOv
