Video: 1989 Wexford county hurling final schmozzle in super-slow motion

With added Rocky Balboa music

Neil Treacy

There are very few things an Irish person enjoys more than a schmozzle at a club hurling match.

One of those things is a schmozzle at a club hurling match, in super-slow motion, and with the music from Rocky playing in the background.

The great folks at Wexford GAA TV have pulled out a gem of a melee from their cam-corder archives, the fabled county hurling final from 1989 between Oulart the Ballagh and Buffers Alley.

And to make things even better (as if they could get any better), they’ve slowed down the footage, so we can really get a blow by blow account of the whole dust-up, in particular the moment that the poor referee trying to break things up gets sent flying to the ground.

Oh, and they’ve added the “Gonna Fly Now” music from the Rocky movies to it, which improves things 10-fold.

Here’s the original video, but it hasn’t got a patch on the original.

Hat-Tip to Lar Sutton for sending this our way.
